I am headed for a few days of chilly weather in Hamburg, where IPfolio is an exhibitor at the European Patent Office's (EPO) patent information conference. A brilliant autumn day in Berkeley with a tranquil, deep-blue San Francisco Bay and temperatures above 70F didn't make it easy to trade in the California sunshine against the rougher seasonal conditions in Northern Germany. Still, going back home to Europe always fills me with positive excitement, particularly as I'm looking forward to meeting up with many old friends at this annual IP industry get-together.

Last week, Apple presented the iPad mini, and this smaller and lighter variation of the iconic tablet went on sale yesterday. Although you could be tempted to ask what's the big deal about shrinking the popular tablet a bit, the vast majority of reviews have been very favorable (speaking of reviews, read what our customers have to say about IPfolio here). The outstanding design quality and obsession with detail for which the Cupertino company is known makes this a remarkable, beautiful and unique device once again. It is thinner, lighter, and more elegant than any of its competitors. Yes, it is also significantly more expensive.
Since our customers tell us that much of the above - except for the premium price tag - is also true for IPfolio, we found it appropriate to bring one of the brand-new gadgets to the Hanseatic City. The white version has been in high demand, sold out quickly on the first day, and I managed to buy the very last one in stock at the Berkeley Apple Store this morning. With a bright-green cover, I must say it goes very well with the IPfolio brand, and I am just a bit tempted to keep it for myself.
But no worries, we are sticking with the idea of giving it away. We will be collecting business cards at our booth #1 at the EPO conference exhibition over the next few days, and we will draw the lucky winner during our seminar on Wednesday. Don't miss it if you are there!
