If it’s April in the Bay Area and it concerns IP, it means IPforward 2018 will again welcome hundreds of IP professionals to the Silicon Valley, a region synonymous with 21st-century American innovation. We hope to see you in San Mateo.IPforward combines two distinct events: the IPfolio user group meeting on April 10th and a vendor-independent educational conference on April 11th. Both will bring together GCs, in-house counsel, paralegals, strategists and lawyers to listen to and discuss a wide range of topics on creating and managing corporate IP portfolios.
April 11th IPforward Conference: All about strategic, tactical & operational excellence
In support of this year’s “Excellence in IP Strategy, Tactics & Operations” conference theme, we’ve scheduled an incredible speaker lineup from companies like Facebook, Honeywell International, Intel, New Avon, Oracle, Target Brands and Sophos. Their sessions range from the practical and instructional, to industry portents and strategic considerations. Here’s a sample:
- In “An Historical View of Patent Portfolio Development at Facebook,” the company’s Associate General Counsel, Patents Gilbert Wong will revisit the pivotal moments and milestones of the social network’s rise as a cultural phenomenon and advertising titan.
- John Schiffhauer, VP of Intellectual Property at Intel, will explore the relationships and priorities between the business and IP sides of companies. We have no idea which ones made his list but we’re confident that “Top 6 IP Questions Posed by Business People to Legal Departments–and the Questions They Really Should be Asking” will generate a lot of questions from the floor once he’s finished speaking.
- With frequent launches of new brands and numerous joint ventures, Target Brands has proven this century that it knows how to use IP to survive and thrive in an incredibly challenging industry - retailing. We’re looking forward to “Launching New Brands and Creative Marketing to Go Along with it from an IP Management Perspective” from Target’s Asst. Gen. Counsel, IP Stephen Lee.
- Europe is experiencing changes in myriad areas. There’s no better opportunity to learn about their real and potential effects on our industry than the “IP Strategy in a Changing Europe” panel moderated by Heather McCann. A European patent attorney and Partner at EP Europe LLP, she’s earned rave reviews from presentations at past IPforward events and dinners.
The other individual and group presentations are of similar quality. To borrow a popular term used to rate Premier League footballers, the IPforward 2018 speaker lineup is “pure class.”
April 10th IPfolio User Group Meeting: Up close and personal with IPfolio
In 2017, we tripled our headcount, welcomed many new customers, launched dozens of new features and refined our customer success knowledge and processes. There’s much to share and discuss during our Second Annual User Group meeting on April 10th.
This full day is all about IPfolio customers and focuses on the many ways we can collaborate to improve what “customer success” means and how it is experienced. If you’re like the Intuit patent team, which “lives in IPfolio every day” according to Intuit AGC & Senior IP Counsel Arien Ferrell, this day is for you. Please join us.
San Mateo: Be there
The San Mateo Marriott is a great event venue, the chairs are comfy, the food will be excellent and the conversation even better. If you can attend, IPforward 2018 is one of the best ways to justify one or two days out of the office.
All IPfolio customers are invited to attend the April 10th User Group Meeting free of charge. Admission to the April 11th IPforward conference is free for in-house IP professionals (GCs, counsel and paralegals). Paid admission is available to other IP professionals such as outside counsel.
We’ve already allocated over 90% of the available tickets based on occupancy restrictions so if you’d like to join us, visit the registration page without delay.
See you next month!
